SHROUDED LOCKING TYPE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR WITH LOCKING MEMBER

An electrical connector adapted to be coupled to acomplementary locking type electrical connector byinitial relative axial movement therebetween. Theelectrical connector includes an insulated housing with aset of electrical contacts mounted therein, and a lockingmember movably coupled to the housing between an unlockedposition and a locked position upon relative rotationalmovement between the complementary locking typeelectrical connector and the electrical connector. Thehousing has a first detent member and a sleeve fornesting with a portion of the complementary locking typeelectrical connector. The sleeve has a mating surfacewith a first polarizing member for cooperating with acomplementary polarizing member of the complementarylocking type electrical connector. The locking memberhas a second polarizing member and a second detent memberfor overridably engaging said first detent member of thehousing upon relative rotational movement of thecomplementary locking type electrical to the lockedposition for preventing inadvertent disconnectiontherebetween.
