METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION OF A DATA PROCESSING CLUSTER AND COMPUTER SYSTEM FOR OPERATING IN CLUSTER MODE

The invention relates to a method for the production of a data processing cluster and a computer system for operating in cluster mode. In order to produce a data processing cluster, the inventive method comprises the following steps consisting in: first, using digital data processing devices (1, 2, 3) which are connected in a network and which are generally provided in order each to process data while active on a first operating system which is launched from a hardware interface system; configuring the hardware interface system of each digital data processing device with a network boot faculty; and connecting at least one server (5) to the network (4), said server comprising a second operating system which is provided in order to operate in cluster mode. The invention also comprises steps consisting in: from the server (5), starting up each digital data processing device which the server detects to be inactive on the first operating system using a network boot protocol; and, subsequently, from the server (5), loading the second operating system into the random access memory of each digital data processing device thus started up.
