Method and apparatus for predicting the effect of yarn defects on the appearance of textiles or fabrics

Assessing the effects of yarn defects is performed by simulating the fabric appearance. In a first step, the yarn (5) is examined by a measuring element (4) with respect to parameters which are associated with the volume and/or the surface. In a second step, the said parameters are converted into grey values or colour values and these values are assigned to pixels. Finally, the pixels are reproduced on a display screen (7) and/or printer (3). This results in the production of an image which represents the simulation of a woven fabric or knitted fabric produced from the examined yarn (5). IMAGE
