A skate guard comprises of a blade protector bar with a slot for receiving the entire skate runner. The protector bar is simply held to the skate runner using magnets that are enclosed in the sides of the protector bar. The skate runner is inserted into the slot of the protector bar and as the runner passes the magnets, the protector bar is drawn tightly up on the skate runner. The slot in the protector bar is deeper that the height of the skate runner, allowing the protector bar to fully enclose the skate runner while supporting the skaters' weight on the frame between the skate runner and the shoe of the skate. This eliminates any contact between the protector bar and the sharpened edge of the skate runner. The side windows allow for any residual moisture left on the blade after use, to quickly evaporate, reducing the occurrence of rust on the skate runner. The radiussed section on the bottom of the protector bar aids in maneuvering while off the ice.
