The invention relates to a psychopharmacological agent containing an extract from plant material of Salix spec. (willow). The inventive agent is characterized especially in that it is suitable as an anxiolytic, antidepressant, neuroleptic, tranquilizer, and/or for the treatment of states of anxiety and/or restlessness, particularly in connection with sleeping disorders. The invention further relates to the use of Salix s. (willow) extracts for producing such an agent and the use of such an agent for producing a medicament.
