PURPOSE: A device for setting a reproduction option of a DVD and a method therefor are provided to store settings for audio, sub picture, and other reproduction-related options, and to automatically set a reproduction-related option preferred by a user when the user wants to enjoy a new DVD title, thereby removing inconvenience of manually setting the options. CONSTITUTION: A DVD title is recorded with presentation data and navigation data. A front-end unit(101) optically reads data recorded on the DVD title when a reproduction of the DVD title is selected. A DVD data processor(102) demodulates the read data while performing an error correction, separates the presentation data from the navigation data, and re-separates the presentation data into audio/video/sub picture data. An A/V/sub picture decoder(104) decodes the separated A/V/sub picture data, respectively. A navigation manager(105) receives the separated navigation data, and controls the decoder(104) to perform a reproduction process. A reproduction option setup controller(107) obtains statistics for a reproduction option set by a user whenever the reproduction option is manually set, obtains the user's preferred reproduction option to store the option, and automatically sets the user's preferred reproduction option on other DVD title when the other DVD title is reproduced.
