PURPOSE: A control device of a remote control signal receiving unit, and a method for controlling the same are provided to enable a user to simply control electronic appliances without regard to manufacturing companies by using one remote control transmitting unit, and simply set up preferred channels. CONSTITUTION: A signal transmitting unit(22) transmits a remote control signal. A memory(26) stores remote control signal information by electronic appliances based on electronic appliance groups, manufacturing companies, and model names, and user set information. A control unit(25) converts the received remote control signal into remote control signal information related to interworking electronic appliances. The control unit(25) converts the received remote control signal into functional information related to the interworking electronic appliances. The control unit(25) transmits the converted remote control signal information by using the signal transmitting unit(22). The control unit(25) executes the converted functional information.
