PURPOSE: A method and a device for authenticating digital data by an authentication expansion module are provided to authenticate each continuous segment by responding to an authentication request for the plural chained segments, and to execute an authentication plug-in function in order to authenticate the segments. CONSTITUTION: Segments to be processed by an authentication device are loaded(10). A chaining of the loaded segments is checked in accordance with a selected chaining relation(20). The plural segments are continuously and repeatedly authenticated(30). An authentication manager executes an authentication algorithm, and executes a correction plug-in function by responding to the segments(40,50), then authenticates the segments. A process moves to a next segment, and repeats an authentication loop until a final segment(70).
