PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for stopping the sending of a voice message in a VMS(Voice Mail System)-combined private switching system are provided to offer a service immediately to another call as a VMS directly interrupts the output of a voice message in case that a caller gets off the line while the voice message is being outputted. CONSTITUTION: A control part checks whether a call is received(301). In case that a call is received, the control part checks whether it is necessary to connect the received call to a VMS(303). If it is necessary to connect the received call to the VMS, the control part connects the received call to the VMS(305). In this case, the VMS outputs a preset announcement message. The control part checks whether the caller hooks on(307). If the caller's hook-on is detected, the control part adjusts a control signal provided to the power supply circuit of a subscriber line interface and interrupts the power supplied to the VMS(309).
