PURPOSE: A PSN-PZT-PNW-based piezoelectric composition sintered at low temperature is provided, which is applied to multilayer piezoelectric transformers requiring excellent mechanical quality factor(Qm) and electromechanical coupling coefficient(Kp) by adding CuO to the PSN-PZT-PNW composition. CONSTITUTION: The PSN-PZT-PNW-based composition, expressed by a formula 0.91Pb(Sb1/2Nb1/2)0.03(ZrxTi1-x)0.97O3 + 0.05BiFeO3 + 0.04Pb(Ni1/2W1/2)O3 + 0.3wt.% MnO2 + 0.6wt.% CuO (0.48=x=0.51), is prepared by adding 0.2-0.6wt.% of CuO to the basic composition of PSN-PZT-PNW, 0.91Pb(Sb1/2Nb1/2)0.03(ZrxTi1-x)0.97O3 + 0.05BiFeO3 + 0.04Pb(Ni1/2W1/2)O3 + 0.3wt.% MnO2 (0.48=x=0.51). The PSN-PZT-PNW ceramics sintered at 920deg.C have dielectric constant of 1398, mechanical quality factor of 933, and electromechanical coupling coefficient of 0.477 when the Zr/Ti ratio is 48/52 in the basic composition of PSN-PZT-PNW.
