PURPOSE: A method for controlling call background music in a mobile communication terminal is provided to perform an automatic control or a manual control function for background music volume, so that a user can conveniently select and manipulate contents of desired background music and volume of the music. CONSTITUTION: When a call origination request is received(100), a controller decides whether a busy background music function is set(102). If so, the controller retrieves a background music reservation table(106), and decides whether today is a special day corresponding to a receiver telephone number(108). If so, the controller announces the special day to deliver background music(110). If a user presses an OK button(112), the controller delivers the background music for the special day(116). If other party responds to a call, a busy state is formed(118). If the user presses a background music key for one time in a busy state(120), the controller controls to be a background music basic volume state while activating a volume key(122). If the user presses an up key or a down key(136), the controller manually controls the background music volume(138).
