PURPOSE: A device and a method for automatically informing of traffic accident in a portable terminal are provided to measure/analyze a distance between front/back cars as well as a car running speed through a sensor mounted on a car, and to automatically inform other party of traffic accident information. CONSTITUTION: A system decides whether to monitor a driving state of a car(S100). If so, the system inputs car information and driving information(S110). The system analyzes the car driving information to decide whether the car runs at more than a reference velocity(S120). If so, the system measures a driving speed of the car, and measures a distance between the car and a front car(S130). The system decides whether the lowest limit distance is detected at window time(S140). If so, the system decides whether the lowest limit distance is detected between the front and back cars(S150). If so, the system receives current time information and registered personal information, and records accident information(S160). The system transmits the recorded accident information with the car information to a designated other party by calling the party(S170).
