When data on the fuel pressure in a common rail (2) are to be collected during engine running, the fuel pressure in the common rail is detected every 6° rotation of the crank shaft, the cylinder number, the crank angle and the fuel pressure in the common rail are associated with each other for tabulation and are stored in a storage means (12). Thereby, the accuracy of detected data is improved.
