Bridge construction with flood protection has superstructure moved on pivot pier into position behind guard pier for protection against water-carried debris

The bridge is for flowing waters (9) with two banks. It has a superstructure (2) moved from normal into flood protection, a pivot pier and a guard pier (15). The superstructure is turned on the pivot pier from normal into flood position parallel to direction of water flow (10) and locked on the guard pier. In this position, both superstructure and pivot pier are located behind the guard pier and are protected against debris carried in the water. A water wheel converts the flowing water energy into a force to turn the structure. The pivot movement is actuated by a signal transmitter reacting to the water level, or automatically, when a set water level has been reached.
