An annular filter element comprises a star-shaped strip material (1) and a strip (2) arranged in a region lying on a folded edge and made from a material which softens under the action of heat. The outer folded edges are embedded radially in the softened material region of the strip. An independent claim is also included for the production of an annular filter element.
