Apparatus for electrochemical metallization, etching, oxidation or reduction of materials (1) comprises:(a) a treating tank (20) containing electrolyte (28); (b) a pump (25) for circulating the electrolyte through the tank, a filter (26) and an electrolyte conditioning unit (27); (c) a workpiece transporter (21); (d) a contact electrode (30) in the tank comprising contact strips (3) with counter-electrodes (7) close to them; and (e) insulators between the two, forming electrolytic cells (9). The cells are fed with electrical pulses and the workpiece is moved along, so that different sections are treated. An Independent claim is included for a method for electrochemical metallization, etching, oxidation or reduction of materials using the apparatus.
