Optical data storage uses film of silver oxide which is irradiated with laser pulses in FEM to second range at wavelength in near IR spectral range so silver oxide is locally modified and data are stored in it. Writing of data takes place with high laser pulse repetition rates in megahertz (MHz) range and with laser pulse intensities above 0.5 MW per square cm. Read-out method use excitation wavelength below that for data storage.
