The method involves providing a sensor (100) for detecting a magnitude that characterises the pressure in each combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine. The internal combustion engine is controlled depending on the status of the change of sign with respect to increase in the magnitude and/or amplitude of the magnitude, during change of sign with respect to the increase in magnitude.
