Preparing mesoscopic rings comprises contacting a colloidal matrix with a fluid formulation, removing the formed solvent, polymerizing monomers, removing the matrix and dispersing the obtained mesoscopic rings
Preparing mesoscopic rings (I) comprising contacting a three-dimensional colloidal matrix with a fluid formulation comprising a solvent, polymerizable monomer (component B1) or a substance (component B2) soluble in the solvent; removing the solvent forming under the developing (I) from B1 or B2; polymerizing the appropriate polymers of B1 (when B1 is used) to form (I); removing the matrix; and dispersing the obtained (I), is new. Preparation of mesoscopic rings (I) comprises: (A) contacting a three-dimensional colloidal matrix developed from a dense packing of colloidal particles (having one or more contact points) with a fluid formulation comprising a solvent (component A), a polymerizable monomer (component B1) or a substance (component B2) (that remains in solid form after removal of a solvent) soluble in the solvent; (B) removing the solvent forming under the developing mesoscopic rings from component B1 or component B2; (C) polymerizing the appropriate polymers of component B1 (when B1 is used) to form the mesoscopic ring; (D) removing the three-dimensional colloidal matrix; and (E) dispersing the obtained mesoscopic rings. An independent claim is also included for mesoscopic rings obtained by the method.
