The hinge (4) has two halves connected through a joint (16). One hinge half (14) has a grip area which interacts with a corresponding grip area on the second hinge half when the two hinge halves are brought together and pivoted into a grip position. The joint has an elongated part whose parallel long sides are connected for articulated movement to each one of the two hinge halves. The hinge is extruded from plastics. Independent claim describes use of hinge to connect two plate-like parts together which are covered on one side with a flexible material layer (12).
