The apparatus has an access conduit assembly (140) with a valve (142) and seal (144). The conduit assembly further includes a spacer conduit (146) having an inboard end flange (148) mounted relative to the furnace wall and an outboard end flange (150) to which the valve is connected. The seal has an O-ring with sealing surfaces for engaging mating surfaces of the insertion portion of a combustion conduit. An independent claim is also included for method of cleaning a vessel of industrial equipment.
