Liver parenchyma cells with clonal capacity for growth, to a process for their preparation and culture system of the primary hepatocytes

PURPOSE: To obtain a subculture medium which can continue the proliferation of primarily cultured hepatic cells for many generations, thus is useful for elucidation of characteristics and action mechanisms of living tissues and their cells by adding a nicotinamide and an ascorbic acid to the medium for the primary hepatic cell culture system. ;CONSTITUTION: The medium for the primary hepatic cell culture such as DMEM medium is combined with a nicotinamide and an ascorbic acid as essential components, optionally further FCS and EGF. The nicotinamide promotes the proliferation of committed progenitor cells, while L-ascorbic acid 2-phosphate accelerates the proliferation of hepatic cells to maintain the survival of subcultured hepatic cells.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
