A frequency-domain texture description method and texture-based extraction method using the same, wherein image signals are transformed into frequency-domain signals of the polar coordinate system, comprising a first step of producing a frequency arrangement by dividing the frequency domain into a set of detail channels; a second step of extracting texture detail values from the image of the respective detail channels; and a third step of forming a texture descriptor of the image in vector form using the texture detail values extracted from the respective detail channels of the frequency arrangement, satisfying all the extraction conditions such as an invariability of scale, rotation and intensity, giving an extraction flyover functionality.
