The method involves controlling a part of ramp of increasing cutting current provided at the beginning of cutting and/or a part of ramp of decreasing cutting current provided at the end of cutting. The parts of the ramps of increasing and decreasing currents are controlled by the increasing and decreasing ramps of pressure and/or plasma gas flow used at the beginning and end of the cutting, respectively. An independent claim is also included for a plasma arc cutting installation comprising a plasma arc cutting torch.
