The rack has a sliding part including a transversal bar (13) and two lateral bars (14a, 14b). The lateral bars slide along fixed units (15a, 15b), when the sliding part is moved in order to permit the rack to take a position in which the rack extends beyond a roof. The fixed units are covered by the bars (14a, 14b), when the rack is in a position in which it is integrally situated above the roof. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a loading method (B) a motor vehicle including a basket rack.
