PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tideland sand covering material, a tideland developing method, a sand covering method, and a tideland sand covering structure for holding the optimum environment in life cycle of short-neck clam from a floating larva period, a bottom landing period, a young clam period to an adult clam period and providing bottom quality environment allowing floating larva to land on the bottom easily. PSOLUTION: When developing an artificial tideland and a short-neck clam fishing ground, this tideland sand covering material has percentage content of rough sand of 20 to 50% after mixture, percentage of passing mass having particle diameter of 0.85 mm of 50 to 80%, and percentage of passing mass having particle diameter of 2 mm of 70 to 100% by mixing rough sand having the optimum particle diameter for letting floating larva of short-neck clam land on the bottom with sandy soil.
