PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum-containing dendrimer containing an aluminum-to-oxygen bond in the core of the dendrimer and acting as a Lewis acid catalyst. PSOLUTION: The aluminum-containing dendrimer is represented by formula (I) [wherein J is a hydrocarbon group; L is a halogen atom; W is a hydrocarbon group; E is a divalent linking group comprising a carbonyl group or a divalent hydrocarbon group; j is 0 or 1; at least one of a, b, and c is 1, the rest each being 0; g, h, and i are each 0 or 1; y is 2 or 3; g+h+i+y=3; and G is formula (II) (wherein RSP1/SP, RSP2/SP, and RSP3/SPare each a divalent hydrocarbon group; X is a hydrocarbon group; Y and Z are each a divalent linking group comprising O, S, NQ (wherein Q is H or an alkyl group), SO, SOSB2/SB, an ester group, an amide group, or a carbonyl group; p, q, r, s, and t are each 0 or 1; m is an integer of 1 or greater; and at least two of d, e, and f are each 1, the rest being 0)].
