PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing active carbon having a pore structure of a mesopore and micropore contributing as an electrode and having a large specific surface area, and active carbon having manufactured characteristics.;SOLUTION: Studies are made relating to firstly a heating method and secondly activation as the method for manufacturing the active carbon. While external heating like a heating furnace or rotary kiln is general as the heating method, a research by microwave heating in which heating is effected from the inside is practiced in recent and is used in manufacturing, and a solution means implementing activation/heating by a microwave plasma heating is attempted in order to make the heating system further effective. The results are that the microwave plasma is particularly extremely effective for the activation and that the active carbon of the high surface area not existing heretofore can be created and in addition, the active carbon of high performance having the large surface area contributing as the electrode can be obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
