PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber-reinforced Ti-Al composite material which is lightweight, has resistance to a heat of 1,300°C, low thermal expansion, and superior abrasion resistance, oxidation resistance and high-temperature strength.;SOLUTION: The fiber-reinforced Ti-Al composite material has a matrix completely formed of an intermetallic compound by steps of: making particles of metallic titanium deposit on a bundle of a continuous fiber made of silicon carbide or alumina by an immersion method; compressively impregnating it with a molten metal of an aluminum alloy; and subsequently heat-treating the impregnated part.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
