PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screening method effective for screening a therapeutic or prophylactic drug of Alzheimer's disease; and to provide a method useful for diagnosing the Alzheimer's disease, and for predicting the onset of the Alzheimer's disease.;SOLUTION: The method for screening a test material changing or reducing the activities of an autotoxin comprises measuring the activities of the autotaxin in the presence of the test material, and assaying whether the test material changes or reduces the activities of the autotaxin or not. The test material reducing the activities of the autotaxin is the therapeutic drug or the prophylactic drug of the Alzheimer's disease, or a candidate thereof. The method for diagnosing the Alzheimer's disease, or the method for predicting the onset risk factor of the Alzheimer's disease involves measuring the amount of the autotaxin contained in the humor of an examinee.
