PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an animal for assessing medicinal efficacy, with no inflammation in its nasal cavity and pharynx and only a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease developed, to provide a method for developing the disease in the animal, and to provide a method for assessing selective medicinal efficacy on the disease by administering the animal with a relevant medicament.;SOLUTION: The animal for assessing medicinal efficacy is characterized in that the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is developed by directly administering the lower airway of the animal except humans with an aqueous solution prepared by dissolving cigarette smoke into water or a physiological saline solution.
