PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method that can effectively suppress the occurrence of heart rot in pear fruits. PSOLUTION: This heart rot occurrence inhibitory agent contains, as an active ingredient, (E)-2-[2-(2-aminoethoxy)vinyl]glycine or (E)-L-2-[2-(2-aminoethoxy)-vinyl]glycine or its agriculturally acceptable salt. In the method that can effectively suppress the occurrence of heart rot pear fruits, (E)-2-[2-(2-aminoethoxy)vinyl]glycine, (E)-L-2-[2-(2-aminoethoxy)-vinyl]glycine or its agriculturally acceptable salts is applied to the ground region of a pear tree or to the harvested pear fruits.
