PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heart rate sensor, counting the heart rate even if a measuring person himself is not conscious of counting the heart rate. PSOLUTION: This heart rate sensor S includes a light signal transmission means 3, whose transmission state of a light signal varies with the vibration based on the heart rate, wherein the heart rate data about the heart rate is detected on the basis of the light signal transmit state. The light signal transmission means 3 includes: an optical waveguide 1c for transmitting a light signal emitted by a light emitting element 1a received by a photo detecting element 1d; a disturbance member 2 having a refractive index of 1 or more and changing in the relative positional relationship to the optical waveguide 1c, wherein the light signal transmission means is provided with a limiting means 4 for limiting only to the operation in one direction side from a reference point out of reciprocating motion in two directions with the reference point interposed between them due to the vibration of the disturbance member 2.
