PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biological substance concentration method constituted so as not only to smoothly and uniformly bring a specific substance into contact with a surface in a short time to support the same on the surface in a high concentration, but also to smoothly and uniformly discharge the specific substance, in a short time. PSOLUTION: The biological substance concentration method includes (1) a process of bringing an aqueous solution, in which a biological substance having charge is dissolved or dispersed, into contact with a metal oxide porous body, which has an isoelectric point of 4-10 and is provided with mesopores having a substantially uniform diameter, at pH different from the isoelectric point to adsorb the biological substance by the pores of the porous body and a process for removing the aqueous solution after the adsorption of the biological substance and (2) a process for bringing a desorbing liquid, of which the pH applies surface potential, having polarity reverse to that of the surface potential of the porous body at the pH at the time of adsorption, into contact with the porous body on which the biological substance is supported to desorb the biological substance.
