PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dynamic bandwidth assignment (DBA) method of E-PON to compensate for a fairness between optical network devices (ONU).;SOLUTION: The method includes a tree forming process which arranges a DBA control node (DBACN) in a multi-level hierarchical step by arranging the ONU in a least significant hierarchical step, connects the DBACN or the ONU in a little significant to the DBACN in a much significant hierarchical step, and connects the DBACN to a tree structure, a demand collecting process in which the DBACN starts an input bandwidth demand information collecting process from the DBACN or the ONU in the little significant hierarchical step from the DBACN in the least significant hierarchical step and conducts it until the DBACN in the most significant hierarchical step, a first bandwidth assigning process in which the DBACN in the most significant hierarchical step assigns a small band of an entire demand bandwidth or an entire assignment enabling bandwidth to the DBACN in the least hierarchical step according to priority, and a second bandwidth assigning process in which the DBACN in hierarchical steps except the most significant hierarchical step assigns a bandwidth assigned by the DBACN in the much significant hierarchical step to the DBACN or the ONU in the little significant hierarchical step according to the priority.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
