Insulation is laid on top of a drainage layer on the inner side of the inner arm of polystyrene element, up to a height where the arm becomes tapered in the upward direction. Reinforcement is laid inside the element. A sill (17) is screwed onto the cast beam (16) and a supporting wall (18) or column can be rested on top of this sill. The reinforcement and concrete around it combine to form a concrete slab (11) which extends upwards to a height level with the top side of the inner arm. The weight of the wall or column is supported by the beam outside the inner arm. The lower tapered section of the inner arm acts as a ledge for supporting the concrete slab. The element is rested on an underlay and its two arms define a channel in between for casting the concrete beam. A release film is secured to the inner side of the outer arm.
