A process for distillation of a multicomponent fluid containing at least three components, each component having a different volatility, into at least three product streams, using a system of distillation column comprising a distillation column having at least two sections separated by an intermediate distillation section located between and in fluid communication with both of said two distillation sections, and a separate adjacent the intermediate distillation section wall section, which is isolated from the intermediate distillation section distillation a vertical separating element, is closed at one end by an end separating element and has an equivalent diameter (De) at least 60% of the ideal diameter (Di) of the partitioned section, wherein a current is fed from the multicomponent fluid to said distillation column; a first portion of a fluid stream in said distillation column fluyea the intermediate distillation section and a second portion of said fluid stream flows into the partitioned section.
