BAINITIC STEEL RAILS EXCELLING IN RESISTANCE TO SURFACE FATIGUE FAILURES AND WEAR RESISTANCE

摘要

High-strength bainitic steel rails have improvedresistances to surface fatigue failures and wear required ofthe head of rails for heavy-load service railroads. Thehigh-strength bainitic steels rails having excellent resistancesto surface fatigue failures and wear contain constituents ofspecific ranges and consisting of bainitic structures atleast in part are characterized in that the total areaoccupied by carbides whose longer axes are 100 to 1000 nm ina given cross section of said bainitic structures accountsfor 10 to 50 percent thereof.
