A device that calculates a field difference by ROM (9) and also a correlation between the calculated result and the delayed calculated result by ROM (12) to detect one shot of flicker, and which uses a personal computer (15) to examine the continued occurrence of the flicker-containing scene to make a final decision of the presence or absence of the flicker.
