PURPOSE: A method for equalizing pulse amplitude using a polarization maintaining laser resonator is provided to equalize the pulse amplitude without using an additional device by removing unevenness of the pulse amplitude. CONSTITUTION: An optical intensity modulator(12) is used for modulating intensity of beam according to an electric modulation signal. An optical isolator(14) is used for transmitting the forward beam and reflecting the backward beam. A tunable filter(16) is used for tuning an oscillating wavelength of the laser. An Er-doped fiber(18) is used as a gain medium of the laser. A WDM coupler(20) is used for coupling optical fibers. A laser diode(22) is used for supplying energy by pumping the Er-doped fiber. A dispersion shifted fiber(24) is used for optimizing dispersion values of the laser resonator. An m:n coupler(26) is used for outputting partially the laser beams. An optical delay line(28) is used for changing the length of the laser resonator.
