PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide abrasive, which can give sufficient holding ability in a resinoid bond grinding wheel even if a grain size is fine. PSOLUTION: The abrasive is manufactured by bonding a plurality of grain 1 coated with a metallic layer 2. The metallic layer 2 is composed of the metal selected from a group composed of nickel, nickel-phosphorus, cobalt, cobalt-phosphorus, titanium, copper, chromium, iron, zirconium, niobium, molybdenum, and tantalum. Further, the abrasive grain is composed of any one or more kinds selected from a group composed of hard substances, such as cubic boron nitride, diamond, alumina, and silicon carbide having an average grain size in the range from 0.5 to 300 m.
