FIELD: drilling and blasting operations in hard rocks, applicable in various branches using blasting operations in rock masses.;SUBSTANCE: the method includes determination of the strength characteristics of rocks in power intensity of drilling of rocks and calculation on their base of the power intensity of explosive destruction of rocks. According to the invention, blasts are performed on rock samples with standard structures of charges in compliance with standard blast plans with a repeated determination of the strength characteristics of rocks on the remaining sections of the sample after blasting of each stage of delay, the coefficients of variation of the strength characteristics of rocks caused by the action of the blast of the previous stages of delay for each standard blast plan are calculated, and these coefficients are used in calculation of the power intensity of rock destruction of each stage of delay of the working blocks for similar conditions.;EFFECT: sufficiently simplified appraisal of variation of the properties of the mass of each subsequent stage of delay caused by the action of earlier blasted charges; enhanced accuracy of determination of the power intensity of explosive destruction of rocks due to allowance made for variation of the strength properties of rocks by blasts of the previous holes.
