The invention relates to a fluid pressure, and to the means of measurement of the working organ in ranking or hydro-pneumatic drive. The cylinder comprises a cylinder housing 1 with inlet and outlet channels 2 and 3, a piston 4 with a hollow stem 5, a measuring unit mounted inside the hollow stem 5. The measuring unit comprises an optical unit 6, comprising a radiation source 7, the radiation receiver means 8 and 9 signal transduction . The measuring unit comprises a metal housing 10, connected to the rod 5, inside which there is at least one insert 11 forming an inner surface with successive projections 12, within which is located an optical unit 6 associated with the cylinder housing 1. Technical result: increased accuracy of measurements, simplifying manufacturing and operation, the expansion of technological capabilities.
