In the weld-joining of structural parts, a plate-like part (2) is joined to two extruded sections (1, 3) by insertion in grooves (4, 5) formed in the extruded sections (1, 3) and welded along the grooves (4, 5) on at least one side. A vehicle chassis frame member produced by the method is also claimed.
