The method involves determining acceleration during starting and restarting of an engine by a measuring block (10). Restarting of the engine is continued when an absolute value of the found acceleration is less than/equal to an absolute value of preset threshold acceleration. Start and/or restart of the engine are discontinued when the absolute value of the found acceleration is greater than the value of the threshold acceleration.
