A latching element (16) can assume an insertion position and a latching position. The latching element and a check element (18) are coupled together in the insertion position and designed so that movement of the check element relative to the latching element in a check direction (K) is only possible if the latching element is in the latching position. The check element may be provided with a transponder. An independent claim is included for a method of quality controlling a latching connection.
