The visible side of the component(11) comprises a foamed sheet(8) with grain effect finish. A thermoplastic plastic supporting part(9) is injection molded directly onto the rear side of the foam sheet. An independent claim is included for a process for manufacturing the composite component(11) using an injection tool with a lower part and an upper part whose inner wall has a grain pattern embossed surface in which: (a) a foam sheet is preheated to embossing temperature and placed in the tool; (b) the grain pattern is impressed into the intended visible surface(12) by pressing the sheet against the tool inner wall(14); and (c) thermoplastic plastic is injected onto the rear of the embossed sheet in the tool.
