The method involves calculating an interface of two calculated condition quantities, which generate a measured output value. Another interface is approximated by a larger quantity, where form of the interface mathematically corresponds to a simple standard form enclosing the latter interface. An error is determined in an industrial process by occurrence of an empty interface.
