The device has a scissor shaped, height adjustable seat frame (3) arranged between a seat plate (1) and a base frame (2). A bending element (13) is joined with at least one scissor (4,4',5,5') of seat frame. The relative movement of seat plate is changeable by adjusting mutual alignment of bend surface (14) and slide section (19a) to the variable adjustment of a spring constant of the spring element (20). The bending element transmits a relative movement of height movement (18a) of the seat frame to a shifting movement (18b) of slide element (16), along with slide section, connected with a spring element. The bend surface of the bending element operates on the surface of the slide element by a pivoting movement (13a) of bending element during the height movement of the seat plate.
