Metallic durable mold (D), with a running system (L) to form and shape the outer and inner design of a large metal alloy casting (6), is composed of a number of mold units (1.1,1.2,2.1,2.2,3.1-3.8). They are fitted together at joint edges (4) on dividing planes, to be taken apart to remove the cooled casting and then used again. There is a gap between the units, at their joints, to allow for expansion and pressure, and are filled with a pliable sealant to take up the movement after the mold is filled with molten metal.
